Job Summary

This position will be part of a Japan/Asia IT Team supporting our software sales, support and development organizations. The day-to-day role is supporting and administering the server infrastructure in our Japan offices (Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya), providing 2nd level end-user support to the Japan offices, and supporting infrastructure and users in other Asia and worldwide offices.

Technical Summary
• The server environment consists of HP servers running Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and Linux, plus Exchange 2007.
• The network environment consists of Cisco LAN, WAN, firewall, VPN and WLAN equipment
• The desktop computing environment consists of Lenovo and HP PC's and laptops running Windows and Linux operating systems as well as a small number of Apple Macintosh computers.



Responsibilities

Support includes, but is not limited to, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades and installation of server and desktop hardware and software, and also:
• Administration of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and/or Exchange Server 2007
• Administration of Windows Server 2003 and/or Windows Server 2008, including administration of Active Directory.
• Working closely with business areas and being the liaison for the IT team (relationship building).
• Supporting all levels of IT infrastructure, from basic desktop support to trouble shooting complex company wide issues.
• Working alone and also as a member of a team to diagnose and resolve local and global issues.
• Leading, coaching and training other members of the worldwide IT team.



Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Japanese and English language both written and verbal including the ability to communicate on complex technical issues both one-to-one and in larger groups.
• 8+ years of Windows support including administration of Windows and Exchange servers for an international business.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Customer focused with a dedication to customer satisfaction
• Strong initiative, self-motivation, ability to complete tasks on time
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain remain calm under pressure.
• Possesses self-initiative to proactively identify and pursue process improvements.
